Laila Anderson of Mount Olive Named Women's Basketball Freshman of the Month for January

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Laila Anderson of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's basketball for January. She also won the award in November. 
 
A 5-foot-5 freshman guard, Anderson averaged 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per game while earning a starting role for the Trojans in the final two weeks of January. She tallied six games in double-figures, including a 21-point performance on the road at Barton on Jan. 11. 

A native of Burlington, North Carolina, Anderson, over a five-game stretch in mid-January, averaged 16.2 points per game. She scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting with five steals in a 77-72 win against the Bulldogs. On Jan. 16, Anderson dropped 17 points, two assists and four steals in a 66-44 win versus Converse. Two days later, she totaled 16 points and four rebounds against Francis Marion.
