Lauren Beatty of Converse Selected Women's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Month for January

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lauren Beatty of Converse has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's indoor track and field for January. 
 
A native of Winchester, Virginia, Beatty opened the month at the Gamecock Opener where she ran a 4:34.66 in the mile, a time that led Conference Carolinas, and a 2:27.79 in the 800m. She earned conference Track Athlete of the Week accolades for the performances. At the Finn Pincus Invitational, Beatty placed 3rd in the 5,000m with a time of 18:28.71, a new Converse school record. She became the first female to run the indoor event in under 19 minutes in Converse school history. 

She currently leads Conference Carolinas in the 5,000m, is second in the 3,000m (10:43.79) and mile and is ninth in the 800m. Her 5,000m time ranks 10th in the Southeast Region while her 3,000m time is 16th-fastest and her mile is No. 18.
