Belmont Abbey Women, UNC Pembroke Men Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Polls

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas had two schools ranked in the third and final NCAA Southeast Region Men’s and Women’s Basketball Polls, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday. 

UNC Pembroke remained No. 1 in the men’s regional rankings while Belmont Abbey stayed at No. 10 on the women’s side.

The Braves, who climbed three spots to No. 6 nationally in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, own a 26-2 record on the season, earned the top seed in the 2023 Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Championship with an 18-2 conference mark. 

The Crusaders moved into the top-25 of the most recent Women’s Basketball Coaches Association poll and are ranked 25th. The Abbey finished the regular season 22-4 overall and will also be the top seed in the 2023 Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship with a 19-1 conference mark. 

The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
