Luigi Da Silva of Emmanuel Captures First-Team All-America Honors at NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Luigi Da Silva of Emmanuel earned first-team All-America honors at the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.
 
Da Silva picked up the first-team All-America honor by finishing fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke final with a time of 53.17.
 
Teammate Diana Suprun also garned All-America honors by finishing fourth overall in the consolation final in the women’s 100 breaststroke. Suprun’s time of 1:03.18 allowed her to claim the 12th spot overall.
 
One day after picking up All-America status in the 400 IM finals, Susana Ungo of Emmanuel just missed on advancing to the final in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.85. The time was good for 19th place in the prelims.
 
The final day of the championship, March 11, will feature three individuals and one relay competing. Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year Bartosz Mielniczuk of Emmanuel will kick things off in the second event of the 10 a.m. session in the men’s 100 freestyle where he is seeded seventh with a time of 43.49. Suprun will compete in the women’s 200 breaststroke, the fifth event of the session, where she is sixth with a time of 2:15.20. Da Silva will follow her in the men’s event where he is the third seed with a time of 1:56.51.

The event finals will begin at 6 p.m. that night with the men’s 100 freestyle finals the fourth event of the final session. The 200 breast finals are the seventh and eighth events of the session while the Emmanuel men’s 400 freestyle relay will cap the championships with the last event of the meet where they are seeded 17th with a time of 2:58.84.
