Mycherie Onwuzuruike of Southern Wesleyan Earns All-American on Opening Day of NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships
RESULTS | VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The first day of the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center ended with a bang for Conference Carolinas as Mycherie Onwuzuruike of Southern Wesleyan earned All-American honors.
Onwuzuruike, competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships for the first time, earned All-American honors in the women’s long jump with a fourth-place finish. The graduate student from Powder Springs, Georgia posted a mark of 6.09m (19-11.75) on her second jump of the championships to claim the honors. Her mark was also a Warriors and Conference Carolinas record in the event.
On the track, Jaylin Reeves also made her first appearance at indoor nationals and placed 18th in the women’s 200m with a time of 25.06.
Reeves and her teammates Vinesha Briggs, Jaiden Moody and Channie Jefferson will wrap up the 2023 indoor national championships on Saturday, March 11 when they compete in the women’s 4x400m relay at 6:30 p.m.
