Matthew Wyatt of Belmont Abbey and Jacob Brown of Mount Olive Selected Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Matthew Wyatt of Belmont Abbey and Jacob Brown of Mount Olive have been named the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men’s lacrosse for the week ending March 19, 2023.
Wyatt was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Brown picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
A sophomore on attack from Lutz, Florida, Wyatt finished Belmont Abbey’s two wins last week with 11 points on nine goals and two assists. He had the game-winning goal in Belmont Abbey’s 14-10 victory over Embry-Riddle on March 15. Wyatt finished the victory with four goals and an assist. In Belmont Abbey’s 14-6 conference-opening road win at North Greenville on Saturday, March 18, Wyatt had five goals and an assist.
A junior goalie from Parker, Colorado, Brown delivered a remarkable performance in the net, as Mount Olive knocked off No. 14 Seton Hill by an 8-6 margin on Saturday, March 18. He tallied 15 saves while facing nearly 45 totals against the Griffins. Brown delivered a pivotal third quarter between the posts as he totaled six saves and held Seton Hill scoreless during that 15-minute stretch.
