GREENVILLE, S.C. – Justen Burnette and Joshua Faison of Mount Olive have collected the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas men’s indoor track & field for the week ending March 19, 2023.
 
Burnette was tabbed as the Track Athlete of the Week, while Faison picked up Field Athlete of the Week accolades.
 
In his first appearance of the outdoor season, Burnette set an NCAA provisional mark and the fastest time in the Conference Carolinas in the 100 meters at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The senior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina posted a blistering pace of 10.49 seconds in the 100m preliminaries to hit the NCAA standard and establish the second-best time in the Southeast Region while competing in Myrtle Beach.
 
A native of Clayton, North Carolina, Faison posted a pair of top-three finishes over the weekend at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. He registered a second-place finish in the discus with a mark of 52.47 meters on his final toss on Saturday, March 18. Faison finished behind a Division I thrower from Duke, who set the Doug Shaw Stadium record in the event. Additionally, he reached a distance of 16.33 meters in the shot put to place third overall.
