Christian Rivera of Erskine and Reece Fields of North Greenville Collect Baseball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Christian Rivera of Erskine and Reece Fields of North Greenville have been chosen as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas baseball for the week ending March 26, 2023.
Rivera was named Player of the Week, while Fields garnered Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second straight week.
A junior from Winter Haven, Florida, Rivera closed out Erskine’s three conference wins last week hitting .600 (6-of-10) with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored. Rivera slugged 1.900 on the week and had an on-base percentage of .643. Rivera homered in all three games in Erskine’s series with Chowan, including hitting two in the series finale. He had five extra-base hits on the week with four home runs and one double. Rivera is presently fifth in Conference Carolinas in OPS (1.248). He is tied for the league lead in home runs on the season with 11.
A redshirt junior right-handed pitcher from West Columbia, South Carolina, Fields was sensational in No. 1 North Greenville’s 7-0 second game win over No. 13 UNC Pembroke. Fields fanned seven in the seven-inning complete-game shutout victory. He allowed just one hit. Fields also pitched one shutout inning in North Greenville’s 13-4 win over Mars Hill. Fields allowed just a .038 batting average last week in eight innings pitched. Fields leads Conference Carolinas and is tied for the most wins nationally in NCAA Division II with eight. He is 8-0 on the season.
