Reece Fields of North Greenville Named NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week
WINGATE, N.C.- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced on Tuesday that North Greenville right-hander Reece Fields is the Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
A redshirt junior from West Columbia, South Carolina, Fields was sensational in No. 1 North Greenville’s 7-0 second game win over No. 13 UNC Pembroke. Fields fanned seven in the seven-inning complete-game shutout victory. He allowed just one hit. Fields also pitched one shutout inning in North Greenville’s 13-4 win over Mars Hill. Fields allowed just a .038 batting average last week in eight innings pitched. Fields leads Conference Carolinas and is tied for the most wins nationally in NCAA Division II with eight. He is 8-0 on the season.
Fields is the fifth Conference Carolinas student-athlete to win an NCBWA regional honor this season and the third pitcher to do so.
