Eric George of Chowan and Drew Wheeler of Barton Pick Up Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Eric George of Chowan and Drew Wheeler of Barton have been selected as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men’s lacrosse for the week ending March 5, 2023.
George was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Wheeler picked up Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
A junior on attack from Stony Plain, Alberta in Canada, George finished Chowan’s two games last week with an impressive 10 goals and five assists. He first picked up four goals and three assists in Chowan’s game with Young Harris before adding six goals and two assists in Chowan’s contest with Wheeling. George had four man-up goals on the week. George currently leads Conference Carolinas in goals per game at 4.50.
A freshman goalie from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Wheeler was strong in goal in Barton’s 17-12 road win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, March 4. Wheeler made 13 saves in the victory. He also picked up two ground balls. Wheeler presently leads Conference Carolinas in goals against average at 10.19.
