Danielle Karacson and Rachel Davis of Francis Marion Earn Softball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Danielle Karacson and Rachel Davis of Francis Marion were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for softball for the week ending March 5.
Karacson was selected as the Player of the Week, while Davis earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.
A senior outfielder from Bartow, Florida, Karacson led the Patriots to a 6-0 week as she batted .529 (9-for-17) with seven runs scored and 12 RBIs. She had five extra base hits on the week with two doubles and three home runs for a 1.176 slugging percentage. The highlight of the week for Karacson was a go-ahead two-run home run in a 5-2 win over Georgian Court. She also had a 3-for-3 game in which she scored twice and drove in four with two doubles and a home run in a 9-0 win over Chestnut Hill. Karacson is currently riding a 12-game hit streak.
Davis, a senior right-handed pitcher, went 3-0 on the week with a pair of complete games and a 0.88 ERA. The Mechanicsville, Virginia native threw a no-hitter to cap the week as she struck out five over 66 pitches in the 9-0 run-rule win over Chestnut Hill. Over 16 innings on the week she allowed seven hits, two runs, two walks and struck out 13 while limiting the opposition to a .132 batting average.
