Patrick Taylor and Nic Aehlert of Belmont Abbey Collect Baseball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Patrick Taylor and Nic Aehlert of Belmont Abbey have been selected as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas baseball for the week ending March 5, 2023.
Taylor was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Aehlert secured Pitcher of the Week plaudits.
A senior second baseman from Atlanta, Taylor entered last week owning two home runs in his career before hitting three alone last week. He also had a double and a triple to own five extra-base hits on the week. Taylor closed Belmont Abbey’s five games last week hitting .556 (10-of-18) with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Taylor owned a slugging percentage of 1.222 and an on-base percentage of .692 last week.
A junior right-handed pitcher from Itasca, Illinois, Aehlert put together one of his best starts of the season in a win over Southern Wesleyan last week. He pitched seven innings and had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning. He struck out five batters on 99 pitches and only allowed two base runners during his start.
