Daniel Hammond of Mount Olive Chosen Men's Tennis Freshman of the Month

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Daniel Hammond of Mount Olive was selected as the Conference Carolinas men's tennis Freshman of the Month for February of 2023. 

A freshman from Whangarei, New Zealand, Hammond posted a 6-1 record at No. 1 singles while registering a 5-2 record playing primarily at No. 2 singles. The Trojans posted a 5-3 record in dual matches in February and finished runner-up for the first time in program history at the City of Florence Invitational. In singles play, Hammond is currently on a three-match winning streak and claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win in the first position versus Coker. His highlight win of the month came in defeating No. 46 nationally ranked Gabriel Constantino of Wingate at No. 2 singles by a 6-3, 6-3 margin.

In the first position in doubles, Hammond and junior Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira have won five-straight matches, including capturing their first nationally-ranked win by a 7-5 margin after defeating the No. 15 ranked doubles team of Florian Walcher and Luka Brown of Wingate.
