Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Year Susana Ungo of Emmanuel Earns All-America Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Year Susana Ungo of Emmanuel captured All-America status in the 400 IM finals at the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Ungo finished eighth in the consolation final and 16th overall with a time of 4:26.76. She placed 15th in the 400 IM prelims with a time of 4:25.71. The time in the prelims garnered her a spot in the consolation final. 

Emmanuel also featured in the men's 400 medley relay, finishing 18th with a time of 3:16.48. 

Day three of the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 10 and will feature Diana Suprun, Luigi Da Silva and Ungo of Emmanuel. Suprun gets the day started in the women’s 100 breaststroke, the fifth event in the sixth session, where she is seeded 24th with a time of 1:03.55. Da Silva will follow her in the men’s 100 breaststroke where he is seeded second with a time of 52.60, one of only two A-cuts in the event. Ungo will wrap up the prelims session on Friday as she competes for the second time in the championship when she swims in the 200 butterfly where she is seeded 19th with a time of 2:03.48. Should anyone qualify, they will compete in the event finals in session 7 which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday. The women’s 100 breast is the fifth event in the session followed by the men’s 100 breast and the women’s 200 fly.
