Channie Jefferson of Mount Olive Named Women's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Month for February
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Channie Jefferson of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's indoor track and field for February.
A native of Richmond Virginia, Jefferson was the third leg on the 4x400m relay team that qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. The team competed in the Last Chance Qualifier on Feb. 26 and set a new conference record, an NCAA provisional mark and a school record with a time of 3:46.25. It vaulted the team to 13th nationally in the event and eclipsed a conference record that has stood since 2017.
She also enhanced her league standard in the 60-meter hurdles on Feb. 10 after delivering a time of 9.14, which was a personal record. She finished the indoor season with the third-fastest time in the conference in the event.
