Mason Chaney of Barton and Caleb Mulcahy of Belmont Abbey Named Men's Lacrosse Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Mason Chaney of Barton and Caleb Mulcahy of Belmont Abbey have been named the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse for the week ending April 9, 2023.
Chaney was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Mulcahy was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.
A senior on attack from Dunkirk, Maryland, Chaney tied a school record for assists (six) and total points (11) in Barton's 20-13 league win over Chowan this past Saturday. He had five goals in the conference victory. The all-time leading scorer in Barton men's lacrosse history with 146, Chaney is currently in the top five in Conference Carolinas in points per game (3.93).
A junior from South Lyon, Michigan, Mulcahy dominated the faceoff circle in Belmont Abbey's 21-13 league win over Emmanuel, winning 25-of-30. He also collected a career-best 15 ground balls in the victory. Mulcahy also had one caused turnover and an assist in the victory. He leads Conference Carolinas with 8.82 ground balls per game.
