GREENWOOD, S.C. – Conference Carolinas will hold its 2023 Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship April 15-16 at Horne Arena on the campus of Lander University.

The third annual Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship will be held at a new venue for the first time after the first two editions of the championship in 2021 and 2022 were held at the Student Center Complex on the campus of King University in Bristol, Tennessee.

Converse won the inaugural team championship in 2021 with a narrow 273.080-266.905 victory over King in the final. Limestone captured its first-ever Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship title in 2022 with a 264.010-260.395 victory over Converse in the championship meet.

It’s already been a historic third edition of the annual championship with the first-ever quarterfinals held at higher-seeded host sites on Tuesday, April 11. The first two Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship events were just the final four, but the championship was expanded to six teams in 2023.

In Spartanburg this past Tuesday, it was host and No. 4 Converse who defeated No. 5 Lander by a 267.660-254.010 score to advance to the semifinals. In Hartsville, it was the host Cobras of Coker, the third seed in the tournament, that defeated sixth-seeded King, 265.50-260.195, to move on to the semifinal round.

Back-to-back regular-season champion and defending tournament champion Limestone, who is ranked No. 8 in the latest National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) poll and one of two unbeaten teams in the country, is the top seed with an 9-0 record on the season and a 7-0 league mark.

Nationally 10th-ranked Belmont Abbey earned the second seed in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship. The Crusaders enter the tournament with a record of 8-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.

As the top two seeds, Limestone and Belmont Abbey had already advanced to the semifinal round at Lander.

Converse with its quarterfinal win advanced to face top-seeded Limestone in the first semifinal on Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m. Coker’s win in the quarterfinal round means they will take on second-seeded Belmont Abbey in the second semifinal at 3 p.m.

In addition to the team championship, Conference Carolinas will also host the Individual event finals at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 16. The championship final featuring the two winners of the semifinals is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday.
