Marek Chlup of North Greenville Named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week
WINGATE, N.C.- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced on Tuesday that North Greenville outfielder Marek Chlup is the Southeast Region Player of the Week.
A senior outfielder from Cesky Dub in the Czech Republic, Chlup finished North Greenville's five games last week hitting .588 (10-for-17) with 12 RBIs and six runs scored. The Conference Carolinas Player of the Week slugged 1.176 on the week and had an on-base percentage of .636. In addition, Chlup had five extra-base hits on two home runs, two doubles and one triple. Chlup tallied three multi-hit games in the five games and also recorded three or more RBIs in a game in three of the five contests.
Chlup is the sixth Conference Carolinas student-athlete to win an NCBWA regional honor this season and the third hitter to do so.
