Conference Carolinas Pair Named to USILA/Blatant Division II Team of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) released its 2023 Division II Blatant Team of the Week for the week of April 10 and Mason Chaney of Barton and Davis McCulley of Belmont Abbey both represented Conference Carolinas on the 10 player team. They earned recognition from the organization for their exceptional performances in their program’s games this past week.
A senior on attack from Dunkirk, Maryland, Chaney tied a school record for assists (six) and total points (11) in Barton's 20-13 league win over Chowan this past Saturday. The Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week had five goals in the conference victory. The all-time leading scorer in Barton men's lacrosse history with 146, Chaney is currently in the top five in Conference Carolinas in points per game (3.93).
McCulley is a junior attack from Victoria, British Columbia and earned the honor as he scored a career-high seven goals in the Crusaders 21-13 win over Emmanuel last week. McCulley also had an assist for a career-high eight points. He entered the season with six goals in his first two years, but now has 26 in 2023. He attempted 13 shots with eight on goal and grabbed four ground balls.
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) is an organization comprised of member colleges and universities which sponsor intercollegiate lacrosse for men.
The Association is entrusted to enhance and develop intercollegiate lacrosse by providing leadership, management, and services to its membership so that student-athletes, coaches, and other constituent groups will realize the maximum benefit from the sport of lacrosse.
