Belmont Abbey, Pair from UNC Pembroke Sit Atop Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Leaderboard After Round One

SNOW HILL, N.C. – After the first round of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Championship at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, North Carolina, the third-seeded Crusaders of Belmont Abbey hold a slim advantage while a pair of UNC Pembroke student-athletes are tied for the individual lead.
Amanda Hamrin and Georgia Page are tied atop the leaderboard after the first round as each finished at one-over-par (73). They each had three birdies, tied with Helena Noel of Converse for the tournament lead, and 12 pars. Page dominated on the par 5’s with a -3 in the round while Hamrin led the field in par 4 scoring at even-par and Noel paced the field in par 3 scoring at -1. Sofia Altes (Erskine), Amanda Guzman (Erskine) and Nicole Kramer (North Greenville) rounded out the top five in a tie for third at 74.
Belmont Abbey, led by Paeton Phillippi, carded an opening round 310 for the two stroke lead over the Braves. Phillippi is seventh after the opening 18 holes with a 76 while her teammate, Kaylee Ong, is tied for eighth, one stroke back.
Five strokes separate the top six teams with the Crusaders at 310 followed by UNC Pembroke (312), Emmanuel (313), Erskine (314) and Converse and Mount Olive tied for fifth at 315.
The second round will get underway on Monday, April 17 at 9 a.m. with players teeing off hole No. 1 and hole No. 10. Tee times and live scoring links are available here.
