UNC Pembroke Repeats as Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Champions

SNOW HILL, N.C. – UNC Pembroke claimed its second straight Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship with a final round 305 for a three-day 921. The Braves’ Amanda Hamrin earned individual medalist honors via a playoff at Cutter Creek Golf Club on Tuesday, April 18.
Hamrin, who had a one stroke lead entering the final round, carded a final round 75 and her teammate and defending conference medalist Georgia Page forced a playoff with a 74 as each finished with a 54-hole 223. The pair each shot even-par on the first hole in the playoff before Hamrin won on hole No. 2 for the title.
Victoria Morelli (74-77-73) of Mount Olive and Amanda Guzman (74-76-75) of Erskine tied for third at 225 while Sofia Altes of Erskine rounded out the top five with a 226 (74-78-74).
Page finished the tournament tied with Helena Noel of Converse in par 3 scoring at even-par while she led the event in par 5 scoring at two-under. Guzman paced the field in par 4 scoring at three-over. Noel led the tournament with nine birdies while Hamrin and Page tied for second with eight. Guzman had a tournament-best 36 pars and there were five eagles in the three rounds.
The Braves finished with a 921 (312-304-305) and were followed by Erskine with a 936 (314-309-313), Converse (315-309-313) and Belmont Abbey (310-316-311) tied for third at 937 and Mount Olive rounded out the top five with a 945 (315-319-311).
UNC Pembroke earns the Conference Carolinas NCAA Division II automatic qualifying bid and will compete in the South Regional May 8-10 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia.
