All-Conference Honors for Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Unveiled
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas officially unveiled the 2022-23 women’s tennis all-conference honors on Thursday, April 20.
The all-conference awards were chosen by the league’s head coaches.
Emma Bentz of Erskine was named Player of the Year after compiling an unbeaten singles regular-season in conference play. A junior from Suwanee, Georgia, Bentz went a perfect 10-0 at the No. 1 singles position in Conference Carolinas play this year and finished 13-5 overall. In doubles play she paired with second team all-conference selection Luize Valtere to go 6-4 in league matches. Bentz also earned Player of the Year honors in 2021.
Ariana Jativa of Erskine claimed Freshman of the Year honors thanks in part to an 8-2 league record at the No. 2 singles position. In doubles play, the Guayaquil, Ecuador native teamed with Teodora Stefanovic to go 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles position, the second-best mark in the league this season. This is the sixth Freshman of the Year honor in Erskine program history and first since 2016.
In his 22nd season at the helm, Erskine head coach Calhoun Parr was named Coach of the Year for the 10th time and second in three seasons. Parr led the Flying Fleet to a 9-1 league mark, a 14-4 record overall and the Conference Carolinas regular-season championship. The regular-season title is the 12th in program history, second in three seasons and first outright championship since 2016.
