Conference Carolinas Releases 2022-23 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The all-conference honors for the 2022-23 season for Conference Carolinas men’s tennis were officially released on Thursday, April 20.
The all-conference awards were chosen by the league’s head coaches.
Liam Day of Francis Marion was named Player of the Year after going 7-1 in Conference Carolinas play this season. A junior from Edenvale, South Africa, Day was an impressive 7-1 at No. 1 singles for the Patriots who claimed the 2023 Conference Carolinas men’s tennis regular-season championship. He also teamed with second team all-conference honoree Leonel Gonzalez to finish 6-1 in doubles play at the No. 1 position. Overall, Day is an astounding 15-4 at the top singles spot and 12-4 in doubles action.
Facundo Perlov of Lees-McRae was named Freshman of the Year with a perfect 7-0 conference record. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Perlov helped the Bobcats to the No. 2 seed in the conference championship with a perfect mark at No. 2 singles in league play. On the season he is 11-0 in singles action and teamed with Ezequiel Arce to win three doubles matches in conference play.
Jay Evans couldn’t ask for a better start to his tenure as the Francis Marion head coach as he was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Patriots to a 7-1 conference mark and the program’s first conference title since 1999 and first-ever in Conference Carolinas. FMU is 12-7 on the season.
