King Claims Top Seed in 2023 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship Bracket

GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the second consecutive season and third time in program history the King softball program claimed the Conference Carolinas regular season championship and the top seed in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship which begins on Thursday, April 27 at Tyger River Park in Duncan, S.C.
King enters the postseason 31-20 overall and 16-6 in league play riding a five-game win streak. They will face the winner of No. 8 Belmont Abbey (18-24, 12-12 CC) and No. 9 UNC Pembroke (18-29, 11-11 CC) on Thursday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. The Crusaders and Braves will meet at 11 a.m. in an elimination game.
Lees-McRae earned the two-seed, by way of a head-to-head tiebreaker over Francis Marion, with a 30-16 overall mark and 17-7 league record. The Bobcats will face the winner of No. 7 Mount Olive (23-19, 12-10 CC) and No. 10 Erskine (19-16, 9-9 CC) on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Trojans and Flying Fleet will play in an elimination game at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Francis Marion (37-11, 17-7 CC) earned the third seed and will kick off the double-elimination portion of the bracket against No. 6 North Greenville (26-22, 14-10 CC) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. In the other 2:30 p.m. contest, No. 4 Emmanuel (29-19, 15-7 CC) will face No. 5 Barton (24-20, 14-9 CC).
The quarterfinals of the championship bracket will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 28 with elimination games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, will feature the winners’ bracket semifinal at 12 p.m., an elimination game at 2 p.m. and another elimination game at 4 p.m. for the right to advance to the final in the double-elimination tournament The championship final is slated for 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 with the “if-necessary” game at 2 p.m.
