Limestone Makes History in Advancing to NCATA National Semifinals to Face Oregon
WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – Back-to-back Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament champion Limestone made history on Thursday, April 27, when it became the first member in the history of the league’s sponsorship of the sport to advance in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) team National Championships.
With its thrilling 266.725-266.470 win over third-seeded Azusa Pacific, sixth-seeded Limestone became the first Conference Carolinas member institution in the conference’s sponsorship of the sport to advance to the national semifinals.
Azusa Pacific led the entire meet until the team event. Limestone entered the team event trailing 177.50-175.125.
Limestone captured the historic win by outscoring Azusa Pacific, 91.600-89.320, in the team event to emerge with the victory.
With the win, Limestone advances to face nationally second-seeded Oregon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, in the national semifinals at the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC) on the West Liberty University campus.
The winner will advance to the national championship meet scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.

Conference Carolinas initially announced that it would be sponsoring acrobatics & tumbling in January of 2020. The first conference season and championship was held in the 2020-21 academic year.
The 2023 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship was the third edition of the championship. Converse won the inaugural team championship in 2021 with a narrow 273.080-266.905 victory over King in the final. Limestone captured its first Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship title last year with a 264.010-260.395 victory over Converse in the championship meet.
Limestone picked up its second straight team championship at the 2023 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship with a 269.960
-258.250 victory over third-seeded Coker at Horne Arena on the campus of Lander University. Limestone also won six of the 15 event finals at the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship
Conference Carolinas acrobatics & tumbling captured its first-ever national championships last year at the 2022 NCATA National Event Finals inside Matthew Knight Arena at the University of Oregon.
Converse collected the national championship in the six element in the acro event, while Limestone picked up the national title in the open heat in the pyramid event.
The runner-up at the 2023 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship, Coker also garnered a spot in the 2023 national event finals in pyramid heat 1 and pyramid heat 3. The national individual event finals are scheduled for Sunday, April 30 at 11 a.m.
