WILSON, N.C.– New year, new venue, same result as top-seeded Mount Olive and second-seeded Belmont Abbey secured their third consecutive Conference Carolinas Women’s Lacrosse Championship final appearance after semifinal victories at Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium on the campus of Barton College on Friday afternoon.

The Crusaders and Trojans have met five previous times on a neutral site and Mount Olive is 4-1 in such contests including the past two championship finals in Tigerville, South Carolina which they won by an average of eight goals. UMO is 13-2 all-time against The Abbey.

In the first semifinal, the top-seeded Trojans (13-5) used an eight goal second half to pull away from fourth-seeded Barton (10-8). Bria Hamilton paced the offense with five points on four goals and an assist. She also had six draw controls. Megan Maxwell added four points on two goals and two assists for Mount Olive. Kate Matuza led Barton with two goals.

A seven-goal first quarter and a record-setting performance from Olivia Carlino helped No. 2 seed Belmont Abbey to a 21-8 victory over No. 3 seed North Greenville. The Abbey (12-6) scored seven times in the opening stanza and led 7-2 after 15 minutes and never looked back in the dominant win over NGU (10-7). Carlino set the program record for goals in a game with 11 for Belmont Abbey and she also added an assist for a record-tying 12 points in the contest. Haley Adamo (3 g, 1 ast) and Christina Fabrizio (1 g, 3 ast) each added four points in the win. Emily Zambrano led North Greenville with three goals and seven draw controls.
