Channie Jefferson of Mount Olive Named Women's Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Month for March

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Channie Jefferson of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's outdoor track and field for March. 
 
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Jefferson recorded five conference qualifying standards in March while holding top-three marks in three different events in Conference Carolinas. 

She shattered the school record and ranks first in the Southeast Region in the 400m hurdles after posting a time of 1:02.79 to take first place in the event while competing at the Adidas Trojan Challenge, hosted by Mount Olive. Additionally, at the same meet, Jefferson placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.81m (19-0.75), which sits third in the league this season. Jefferson ranks third in the conference in the 100m hurdles after crossing the line in 15.08 to place third at the Bill Carson Invitational. Jefferson also posted the sixth-best time in the Conference Carolinas in the 400m after registering a time of 58.67 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. She also qualified in the 100m after posting a time of 12.37 seconds while in Myrtle Beach.
