Conference Carolinas Places 66 on 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field USTFCCCA All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. – All-Region honorees for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and Conference Carolinas earned 38 individual and four relay honors representing nine different institutions.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region’s top-3 relay teams.

Mount Olive led all conference programs with 24 all-region honors while Southern Wesleyan had 17, Converse had seven, UNC Pembroke had six and both Belmont Abbey and North Greenville had four. Emmanuel, Erskine and King each had one student-athlete recognized. 

Of the 38 individual and four relay selections, Conference Carolinas had 10 top region performers in the Southeast Region. 

In the men’s events, Mount Olive’s Josh Faison led the way with the top mark in both the men’s shot put and the men’s discus throw. Luke Thierfelder of Belmont Abbey held the top mark in the men’s javelin and Alex Smith-Forte of Mount Olive had the top mark in the men’s hammer throw. 

In the women’s events, both the Mount Olive 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams held the top times while the Trojans also saw Channie Jefferson (400m hurdles), Mary Brigid Keck (hammer throw) and Danielle Trimbur (javelin) earn top marks. The final top performer in the southeast belonged to Mycherie Onwuzuruike of Southern Wesleyan in the long jump.
