Five Individuals, One Relay Compete on Day One of NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
RESULTS | PUEBLO, Colo. – The first day of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado hosted by CSU-Pueblo saw five individuals and one relay represent Conference Carolinas.
Mary Brigid Keck of Mount Olive got things started in the women's hammer throw where she recorded a mark of 55.20m (181-1) to finish 14th. Also in the field, Mychereie Onwuzuruike of Southern Wesleyan placed 16th in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.85m (19-2.5).
On the track in the women’s 4x100m relay, Mount Olive (Jamesha Howell, Channie Jefferson, Jaiden Moody, Vinesha Briggs) finished 13th with a time of 45.69. Jaylin Reeves was next on the track as she finished 23rd in the women’s 100m with a time of 14.51. Jefferson of Mount Olive and Isabelle Flores of Belmont Abbey wrapped up the day in the women’s 400m hurdles with Flores placing 11th with a time of 1:00.95 while Jefferson placed 21st with a time of 1:03.19.
Day two of the championships for Conference Carolinas student-athletes gets started at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, May 26 as Josh Faison of Mount Olive will compete in flight two of the men’s discus throw while Justin Burnette, his teammate, will compete in the men’s 200m at 7:45 p.m.
