Conference Carolinas Associate Commissioner Kit Alewine Selected Recipient of NAAC Division II Excellence Award
CLEVELAND - The National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) has announced that Conference Carolinas Associate Commissioner Kit Alewine has been selected as its Division II Excellence Award winner.
Alewine and Jason Sobolik of Minnesota State, Moorhead were chosen as the recipients of the prestigious honor for NCAA Division II.
“Nobody is more deserving of this honor than our own Kit Alewine,” Conference Carolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin said. “I honestly have never worked with anyone like Kit in my career. He is driven to make Conference Carolinas great and he is passionate about making sure that our governance and policy structure is truly first-class. His tireless work ethic is a huge benefit to our member institutions and his voice is a strong one in not only Division II compliance, but all of NCAA compliance. I know I speak for all in Conference Carolinas when I say we are thankful that Kit’s efforts are being recognized in this way.”
The award winners will be recognized in person during the 2023 NAAC Convention taking place at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Alewine has been the Associate Commissioner at Conference Carolinas since 2019. He oversees the administration of all 26 conference-sponsored sports and is the primary liaison for NCAA compliance and conference governance. Alewine is co-chair of the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association Compliance Administrators. He previously served as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance at the Mountain West Conference (2016-19) and was at Troy University as the Director of Compliance (2007-14) before being promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance in 2014. Alewine began his compliance career in 2005 at Francis Marion University as the Compliance Coordinator before being promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Support in 2006.
Alewine earned his B.A. from Coker College (now University) in 2002 while competing in tennis and cross country. He earned his M.S. from Capella University in 2005.
