Conference Carolinas Places 10 on CSCAA 2023 Individual Scholar All-American List
RICHMOND, Va. - The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 2,290 swimmers and divers (1,270 women and 1,020 men) to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2022-23 season and Conference Carolinas placed 10 student-athletes on the team.
Emmanuel led the three Conference Carolinas institutions honored with eight honorees while UNC Pembroke and Barton each had one.
Luigi Da Silva, Amadeusz Kielczewski, Bartosz Mielniczuk, Mykhailo Semenov, Diana Suprun, and Susana Ungo were named to the first team for the Lions while Alexandra Cerbino and Jan Michalak earned second team recognition. Ungo and Cerbino are repeat selections.
The Braves’ Mariel Mencia Martinez also repeated as Scholar All-American as she earned first team honors. Barton was represented by David Szlobodnyik as a second team honoree.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. Nearly 47 percent of the swimming & diving student-athletes honored are receiving a degree in a STEM related field. Top majors, in order, included Business, Biology, Psychology, Economics, Exercise Science and Mechanical Engineering.
