Eight Student-Athletes, Six Conference Carolinas Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field All-Academic Athletes and Teams on Thursday. 

Conference Carolinas had eight student-athletes and six teams earn the honors. Mount Olive had seven individual recipients while UNC Pembroke had one. Lees-McRae and North Greenville had both the men’s and women’s programs earn team awards while the Mount Olive and UNC Pembroke women’s teams were also recognized.

The seven Trojan student-athletes to earn the recognition were Vinesha Briggs, Karla Hormazabal, Kamden Johnson, Mary Brigid Keck, Jaiden Moody, Mora Smith and Danielle Trimbur. Joshua Chepkesir earned the honor for the Braves. 

To be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Student-Athlete, honorees are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester and have achieved an automatic- or provisional qualifying mark. 

To be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Team, programs must have a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field of 3.0 or higher.
