Player of the Week
Vanja Przulj, UNC Pembroke
A senior outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, Vanja Przulj of UNC Pembroke averaged 5.17 points, 4.78 kills and 1.67 digs per set in two matches last week. She hit an impressive .330 in the two matches and also had three aces.
Przulj started her efforts last week by setting a school record with 32 kills in a five-set match against Lenoir-Rhyne on Sept. 14. The performance tied the single-match high for kills in NCAA Division II this season. In Chowan’s conference-opening win over Chowan, Przulj finished with 11 kills and seven digs.
Przulj presently leads Conference Carolinas in points (4.61), kills (3.85) and aces (0.64) per set. This is her second Conference Carolinas weekly award of the 2023 season.
Specialist of the Week
Lena Mykins, Erskine
A freshman setter from Harmony, North Carolina, Lena Mykins of Erskine finished Erskine’s two matches last week with 10.88 assists and 2.88 digs per set.
In Erskine’s four-set conference win over Southern Wesleyan, Mykins finished with 50 assists and eight digs. She followed that up with a double-double with 32 assists and 15 digs in Erskine’s four-set match with King. Mykins is currently in the top-10 in Conference Carolinas in assists per set at 5.94.
