Conference Carolinas Wednesday Weekly Award Winners

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Logan Parry, Belmont Abbey

    A senior forward from Greensboro, North Carolina, Logan Parry put together one of the best individual performances in a single game in Conference Carolinas and Belmont Abbey history with six goals in a win over Virginia State on Sept. 2. 

    The six goals in the 14-0 victory over Virginia State was the most in all of NCAA Division II through the opening weekend of play. Parry leads Conference Carolinas and is presently tied for the national lead in goals per game at 3.00. Parry started both games of Belmont Abbey’s 2-0 opening weekend that also included a 4-2 win over Anderson on Aug. 31. 

    Defensive Player of the Week 
    Nicole Solicito, Mount Olive

    A graduate student from Stony Point, New York, Nicole Solicito was pivotal for Mount Olive in its impressive 0-0 tie with Lenoir-Rhyne. The goalkeeper made eight big saves in a game in which Lenoir-Rhyne finished with a 21-6 overall shot advantage. 

    Solicito has not allowed a goal in her 135 minutes in goal in the 2023 season. She started the first half and did not give up a goal in Mount Olive’s eventual 2-1 season-opening loss to Lincoln Memorial on Aug. 31 with all three goals coming in the second half. Solicito then logged all 90 minutes in goal in the 0-0 tie with Lenoir-Rhyne on Sept. 2.

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Weston Joyner, King

    A junior forward from Lewisville, North Carolina, Weston Joyner was huge in King’s first 2-0 start since 2008. 

    Joyner finished the 2-0 opening week for King with a Conference Carolinas-leading three goals. He opened the year with both goals in King’s 2-1 road victory over Shorter on Aug. 31. Joyner followed that up with a goal in King’s 3-0 road win at local rival Emory & Henry on Sept. 2. 

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Marco Iniguez, Southern Wesleyan

    A junior goalkeeper from El Paso, Texas, Iniguez led Conference Carolinas through the first weekend of play with 12 saves. He also had one shutout. 

    In Southern Wesleyan’s season-opening non-conference match on Aug. 31 with league rival Barton, Iniguez made eight saves in the eventual 0-0 tie. He also had four saves in Southern Wesleyan’s home win over Montreat on Sept. 2.
