Player of the Week
Vanja Przulj, UNC Pembroke
Vanja Przulj of UNC Pembroke closed out the first weekend of the regular-season averaging 4.57 points, 3.5 kills, 2.14 digs and 1.0 ace per set in a week in which UNC Pembroke went 3-1 at the Cedarville Invitational.
The senior outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia started the season with a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs in a four-set victory over Glenville State. She had double-digit kills in all four matches. Przulj is in the top three in Conference Carolinas in points, kills and aces per set after the first weekend of play.
Specialist of the Week
Madison Goins, Lees-McRae
Madison Goins of Lees-McRae led all of Conference Carolinas during the opening weekend with 11.73 assists per set. She was the only player from Conference Carolinas to average double-digit assists during the first weekend. Lees-McRae finished 2-2 as a team at the Cavalier Classic in Wise, Virginia.
The senior defensive specialist/setter from Lowgap, North Carolina dished out 60 assists in Lees-McRae’s opener against Concord before adding another 51 assists later that day in a five-set match. She also had double-digit digs in both matches to collect two double-doubles on the first day of the regular-season for Lees-McRae. She also had 40 assists against Davis & Elkins and 25 against Johnson C. Smith in two victories on Sept. 1 for Lees-McRae.
