Christopher Kirksey, Mount Olive
A junior, Christopher Kirksey of Mount Olive registered a pair of podium finishes, including a victory in the 400 meters this past weekend while competing at the Finn Pincus Invitational. The Richmond, Virginia native produced a personal record in the 400 meters after crossing the line with a time of 49.66 seconds, which is the fastest time in Conference Carolinas.
Kirksey also placed second overall in the triple jump with a distance of 13.27 meters (43-6.50 meters) to reach the league qualifying mark.
Field Athlete of the Week
Kamden Johnson, Mount Olive
A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Kamden Johnson eclipsed the Mount Olive record and reached the NCAA standard in the high jump after clearing 2.06 meters (6-9.00 feet) to claim first place at the Finn Pincus Invitational. The senior currently ranks 20th in Division II in the event while pacing the Southeast Region and Conference Carolinas this indoor campaign.
Additionally, Johnson improved his conference qualifying mark in the long jump with a distance of 6.96 meters (22-10.00 feet) to earn a first-place finish. He still holds the top mark in the league and sits second in the region in the long jump.
Johnson has now claimed back-to-back weekly honors.
