WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH - Previous Winners
Olivia Melvin | Mount Olive | Outside Hitter | Freshman | Fayetteville, North Carolina
A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Melvin ranks second on the team with 82 kills while also contributing six service aces, 14 digs, and four blocks in 10 matches played. Despite battling injury through the opening month of the season, she has tallied three double-digit kill performances and earned all-tournament honors at the Mount Olive Invitational. In her first career match, she led the team with 15 kills on a .444 clip in a 3-2 victory over Catawba. On Sept. 13, she delivered a career-high with 17 kills in a match versus Lenoir-Rhyne. The following day, Melvin finished with 16 kills, two aces, six digs, and one block in a 3-1 win over Shaw.

Alex White | Mount Olive | Freshman | Longview, Washington
A freshman from Longview, Washington, White led the Trojans in a pair of meets in her first month of collegiate action. On Sept. 6, she placed 37th overall with a time of 15:43.1 in the 4k race at the Elon Opener, which featured nearly 80 competitors. White once again paced the team at the Queen City Invite on Sept. 13, after crossing the line in 20:32.63 seconds to place 48th overall in the 5k race hosted at McAlpine Park.

Ander Vera Moleres | Converse | Freshman | Pamplona, Spain
Moleres helped the Valkyries win the Young Harris Invitational to start the season. He finished third overall with a 6k time of 18:53.8. At the Converse kickoff, the freshman finished 64th overall with an 8k time of 26:58.8.

Alana Hunt | Francis Marion | Freshman | Swindon, England
Hunt started all seven matches as a center back defender for the Patriots. She averaged 77.9 minutes per match and helped anchor a Patriot defense that allowed only five goals in seven matches and only 3.3 shots on goal per match. For the month, the freshman logged 545 minutes.

Kevin Jimenez | Mount Olive | Freshman | Knightdale, North Carolina
A freshman from Knightdale, North Carolina, Jimenez has started all six matches for Mount Olive while logging the third-most minutes of the pitch. He has tallied three points behind one goal and an assist this season. Jimenez registered his first career assist in a 3-3 draw against Chowan on Sept. 25 before netting his first goal in a 4-0 shutout win at King.

Madison Cook | Converse | Freshman | McLeansville, North Carolina
Competed for the Valkyries in both tournaments this season, helping the Valkyries to a 10th place finish at the Anderson-Erskine Kickoff and a runner-up finish at the King University Invitational. Individually, Cook finished 80th at the Anderson-Erskine Kickoff with a score of 259. At the King Invitational, Cook finished 39th with a two round score of 173.

Oscar Lönnqvist | Mount Olive | Freshman | Stockholm, Sweden
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Lönnqvist produced a pair of top-25 finishes in September while boasting a scoring average of 73.67 strokes. On Sept. 16-17, he tied for 23rd place at the Griffin Invitational in a field of nearly 70 golfers with a score of eight-over 221 (74-73-74) behind four birdies and a team-high 39 pars over three rounds played. The following week, Lönnqvist tied for 12th overall in a field of nearly 60 golfers after firing a five-over 221 (74-74-73) over three rounds at the Jay Jennison Cup. He produced a stellar final round with a score of one-over 73 with one birdie and 15 pars to climb three positions on the leaderboard. Lönnqvist finished the event tied for the team lead with eight birdies and made 36 pars.
