SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  The 2024 Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships ended with North Greenville University taking the women’s team title and the UNC Pembroke men winning the team championship. Both men’s and women’s individual champions were repeat champions from 2023 in Moureen Kimaiyo of UNC Pembroke and Ronan O’Neill of Southern Wesleyan University.

For the second straight year, there was a first-time women’s champion in North Greenville as the top five Trailblazer runners earned all-conference, including three in the top 10. North Greenville edged 2023 first-time champion Converse University by two points, scoring 43 to Converse’s 45 points. Converse also placed three runners in the top 10 and five in the top 15.

Kimaiyo picked up her second straight conference title and the fourth straight individual win for UNC Pembroke with a 6K time of 21:46.1. North Greenville then had the next two finishers, Cecily Anderton (22:14.3) and Ellie Timmons (22:27.6) before Converse’s Ruth Spijker (22:36.7) came in fourth and Campbell Dille (22:40.1) of Lees-McRae College rounded out the top five.

UNC Pembroke secured its third consecutive men’s team title with 48 points, topping runner-up Converse University by 20 points. UNC Pembroke had five runners in the top 15, including three in the top 10.

O’Neill won his second straight Conference Carolinas individual title. The 2022 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year finished with an 8k time of 24:24.8 to claim top individual honors while Belmont Abbey College’s Nathan Gallman finished runner-up in 25:09.3. Alain Flores (25:15.8) of Converse, UNC Pembroke’s Kelvin Kibet (25:26.5) and Lees-McRae’s Max Geckler (25:28.6) round out the top five.
