MARS HILL, NC - In an evenly matched game, it came down to penalty kicks as the ninth-seeded Francis Marion's men's soccer team season concluded as they lost 5-3 to eighth-seeded Mars Hill University after playing 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in the NCAA DII tournament, Friday evening.
Francis Marion, making its fourth-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, sees its season end at 10-5-7. The Patriots captured the Conference Carolinas East Division crown and the conference tournament title this year.
FMU outshot Mars Hill 18-15 and held a commanding 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
