GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas women’s soccer championship started with three tight contests that saw the higher seeds win and advance to Sunday’s second quarterfinals.

In a rematch from Monday night, fifth seed Converse University needed double overtime to top eighth seed North Greenville University. The Trailblazers took a 1-0 lead on a Finley Lloyd goal in the ninth minute before Converse’s Kiersten Schrawyer evened the tally in the 45th minute. North Greenville then regained the lead on an Aubrey Kramer goal in the 74th minute. The Valkyries fought back and evened the score in the 88th minute on a Jasmine Hernandez penalty kick, sending the game to overtime.  In the second extra session, Hannah Liebig gave Converse the 3-2 victory.

Sixth seed Young Harris College jumped ahead of seventh seed University of Mount Olive in the 18th minute on a Shania Harris tally. Mount Olive responded as Addison Dangler evened the score in the 27th minute. The score remained the same until the 83rd minute when Anita Reese gave Young Harris the lead and the 2-1 victory.
