GREENVILLE, S.C. – Both the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their women’s volleyball All-America selections on Tuesday. Conference Carolinas had three individuals recognized by the AVCA and one by the D2CCA.
Conference Carolinas Player of the Year Ellie Jackson of Emmanuel University along with Emmanuel’s Alaina Emminger garnered honorable mention All-America honors from the AVCA. Ashlyn Stone of the University of Mount Olive also garnered honorable mention All-America honors. All three earned first team All-Conference Carolinas honors.
Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Mackenzie Day of Converse University was selected third team All-America by the D2CCA. Day led Conference Carolinas and ranked fifth in NCAA Division II with an average of 5.84 digs per set. Her total of 748 digs ranks second in the country.
Jackson ranked in NCAA Division II’s top 50 in four categories, kills per set, points per set, total attacks and total kills. She led Conference Carolinas with 407 kills, 4.31 points per set and 3.77 kills per set. She also posted an average of 3.98 digs per set and, which ranked eighth in Conference Carolinas and 35 service aces.
Emminger was a force in the middle for the Lions as her .314 attack percentage ranked fourth in the league. The middle blocker posted 273 kills for an average of 2.50 per set. She added 62 total blocks, including five solo stuffs for an average of 0.57 per set.
Stone ranked second in Conference Carolinas with a kills per set average of 3.59 and points per set average of 4.16. Her attack percentage of .258 ranked ninth in the league while her average of 0.45 aces per set ranked eighth.
