Conference Carolinas Tuesday Weekly Award Winners

  • Player of the Week
    Kylie Emanuele, Mount Olive

    A senior from Corona, California, Kylie Emanuele produced an impressive .500 average (11-for-22) with two home runs, 12 RBIs and six runs scored in a 6-0 week for Mount Olive. 

    Last Thursday afternoon, Emanuele went a combined 6-for-9 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep at Coker. Emanuele followed that up with a 2-for-3 performance, including a solo homer, in the opening game of round-robin play versus USC Beaufort this past Saturday. The next day, she tallied a staggering eight RBIs after going 3-for-7 with a grand slam with wins over West Liberty and USCB.

    Emanuele leads all of NCAA Division II in the 2024 season in RBIs with 25. 

    Pitcher of the Week
    Riley Lingerfelt, Converse

    A junior from Welcome, North Carolina, Riley Lingerfelt of Converse owned a 0.00 earned-run average in 13 innings pitched last week. Lingerfelt had 30 strikeouts in her three appearances on the week. 

    Lingerfelt etched her name in the record books forever in posting the first no-hitter and perfect game in Converse history last week in a 9-0 win over Shaw. In facing the minimum, Lingerfelt struck out 13.

  • Player of the Week
    Jeremy Begora, Young Harris

    A junior from Cartersville, Georgia, Jeremy Begora of Young Harris was stellar in four games last week against strong competition. Begora owned a .563 (9-for-16) batting average to go along with seven runs scored and four RBIs in the four games. He had four extra-base hits on three doubles and one home run. Begora slugged .938 and he had an on-base percentage of .667 in the four contests. 

    Begora was particularly strong against perennial power Columbus State, finishing the series win for 16th-ranked Young Harris over Columbus State with eight hits. 

    Begora is in the top-10 in Conference Carolinas in multiple offensive categories, including his season batting average of .429. 

    Pitcher of the Week
    Chas DeBruhl, Francis Marion

    A senior from Kershaw, South Carolina, Chas DeBruhl of Francis Marion started and threw six scoreless innings in a 3-0 Patriot win over 17th-ranked Seton Hill. 

    DeBruhl struck out six in a performance that saw him walk none in throwing 98 total pitches. 

    DeBruhl leads Conference Carolinas in the young 2024 season with a 0.56 ERA.

    Player of the Week: Jeremy Begora, Young Harris

  • Athlete of the Week
    Kayla Young, Coker

    A senior from Staten Island, New York, Kayla Young of Coker competed in 11 heats and the team event as a main base and tumbler in a thrilling tri-meet win over Belmont Abbey and Francis Marion. 

    Young helped the Cobras to five scores of 9.50 or above that was highlighted by the Compulsory Pyramid scoring a 9.70/10 and the Five Element Acro with a 9.70/9.95. She was also a part of the group competing in the Inversion Pyramid that scored a 9.70/9.80 and helped the team to score a 9.25/9.40 in the Open Toss heat. 

    Throughout the tri-meet, Young played a large role in improving the scores in a majority of the heats she participated in from the previous meet. Her contributions helped the team to win an important conference meet ultimately separated by 0.20.

    Specialist of the Week
    Kaylin Francavilla, Coker

    A junior from Lone Tree, Colorado, Kaylin Francavilla of Coker was the main base in all three pyramids in the tri-meet against Francis Marion and Belmont Abbey. She helped the Cobras to two near perfect scores. 

    In the Inversion Pyramid, Francavilla helped the team score a 9.70/9.80 and in the Open Pyramid a 9.95/10.0. In the Synchronized Pyramid heat, she helped the team score a 9.60/10.0. Throughout the pyramids, she competed on two different structures, standing on a thigh stand for the Inversion pyramid and a backbend for the other two pyramids. These scores helped the Cobras to the conference tri-meet victory.
