Conference Carolinas Tuesday Weekly Award Winners

  • Player of the Week
    Kylie Emanuele, Mount Olive

    A senior from Corona, California, Kylie Emanuele continued her impressive opening month of the season last week by recording a .571 batting average (12-of-21) with three home runs, seven RBIs and seven runs scored in a six-game week for Mount Olive. 

    Last Thursday Emanuele became just the fourth player in Mount Olive program history to reach 200 career hits. She finished 6-for-9 at the plate with two homers, five RBIs and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep at Winston-Salem State. Against Limestone last Saturday, Emanuele went 4-for-7 with one home run, two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored in a split of a twinbill. To close out the week, she finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one walk in a split at Catawba.

    Emanuele leads all of NCAA Division II with 32 RBIs. She has now earned weekly honors three times in the 2024 season. 

    Pitcher of the Week
    Alyssa Poston, Francis Marion

    A sophomore from Hartsville, South Carolina, Alyssa Poston of Francis Marion owned an impressive 1.57 ERA in five appearances (three starts) last week. 

    Poston pitched a total of 22.1 innings, striking out 17 while walking none. Her opponents hit just .146 against her. In Francis Marion’s 2-0 game one win over 14th-ranked Wingate, Poston threw a no-hitter with five strikeouts. She needed only 84 pitches to collect the no-hitter.

  • Player of the Week
    David Lewis, North Greenville

    A junior infielder, David Lewis of North Greenville finished last week hitting a scorching .533 (8-of-15) with a slugging percentage of 1.533. He owned an on-base percentage of .579.

    Lewis concluded North Greenville’s five games last week with 10 RBIs and five runs scored. Six of Lewis’ eight hits on the week came on extra-base hits. He finished the five games with four home runs, one double and one triple. 

    Lewis leads Conference Carolinas – and is in the top-five in NCAA Division II – with 29 RBIs on the 2024 season. His eight home runs also leads Conference Carolinas.  

    Pitcher of the Week
    Erik Johnson, Mount Olive

    A redshirt senior, Erik Johnson tossed a complete-game shutout win this past Saturday afternoon in helping the Trojans to secure a series sweep over Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas play. 

    The Trojan ace delivered an absolute gem on the mound with nine strikeouts and just one walk while yielding two hits over 7.0 innings of work in a 3-0 win in Game two of the series. He retired the side in order five times while tallying four flyouts and six groundouts against the Lions.

    Week 4 (Feb. 27, 2024)

    Player of the Week: David Lewis, North Greenville

  • Athlete of the Week
    Cameron King, Limestone

    A junior base/tumbler from Peletier, North Carolina, Cameron King performed in 10 heats in a battle of top-10 teams last week. 

    In seventh-ranked Limestone’s league win over 10th-ranked Belmont Abbey, King performed in three out of four compulsory heats and scored a 9.5 in Heat 1, a 9.9 in Heat 2 and a 9.8 in Heat 3. She also contributed in the Acro 5 and 7 element heats, scoring a 9.35 in 5 element Acro and a 9.7 in seven element. In the Synchronized Pyramid she scored a 9.85. In the toss heat, she based the synchronized heat and the open toss by scoring a 9.25 and an 8.95 (out of 9.4). 

    King was also a huge part of Limestone’s team event, basing two acro sections and mid-basing a 10.0 start value pyramid. She also completed a running tumbling pass while also serving as the base for two tosses. 

    Specialist of the Week
    Genesis Carson, Limestone

    A junior top/tumbler from Newport News, Virginia, Genesis Carson competed in all three pyramid heats in seventh-ranked Limestone’s conference win over 10th-ranked Belmont Abbey. 

    Carson completed three different top positions within each heat. For inversion pyramid, she completed a 1-1 high handstand by scoring a 9.85/10.0. For the synchronized heat, she completed a 1-1 vertical press extension and scored a 9.85/10.0. For the open pyramid, she completed a straddle bridge pyramid and scored a 9.9/10.0.
