GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin recently announced that Anna Schwieger is being promoted into the role of Assistant Commissioner for Sport Administration and Governance.

Schwieger expands her role after working for the majority of the 2023-24 academic year as the Coordinator of Sport Administration and Governance. Schwieger will be the lead for Conference Carolinas in most sport administration areas, including leading the coaches' committee meetings. Schwieger will also help to continue to create drafts of agendas, supplements and sport committee meetings and map action items derived from the meetings. She will also assist with interpretations, investigations and other items that arise during the regular season and conference championships.

"We are excited to continue to expand upon Anna's role in Conference Carolinas," Colvin said. "She has earned every opportunity that she has been afforded and her efforts for Conference Carolinas coupled with a strong background have made her an absolute asset for our conference and its stakeholders. We know she will continue to be a huge asset to all in the conference in this updated role that also allows us to continue to modernize and grow our office to help us continue to help our member institutions fulfill their missions."

Schwieger moved into her full-time role earlier this year after serving part-time during the 2022-23 academic year. Schwieger's primary role during her first year with the conference was assisting with various compliance matters, while also serving as a conference liaison at preliminary round championship sites and assisting with the organization of select championships.

Schwieger will help with scheduling, moderating and leading the sport committee meetings as assigned and also assist with conference governance and policy matters. In addition, Schwieger will assist with the continual process of updating, modernizing and professionalizing the conference’s legislative literature. She will serve as the primary championships director for multiple championships while also assisting with numerous other championships.

For the three years prior to joining Conference Carolinas in July of 2022, Schwieger had been working as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance/SWA at NCAA Division II Drury University where she supervised institutional, conference and NCAA eligibility requirements for 470 student-athletes and 22 sports. In addition, she served as sport administrator for the baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track & field programs.

Schwieger originally worked with Conference Carolinas Associate Commissioner Kit Alewine at the Mountain West Conference office from August of 2017-July of 2019.

Schwieger started her time at the Mountain West as a compliance department intern before moving into an Assistant Director for Administration role. In this role, she helped develop budgets for 19 championship events along with multiple other responsibilities. Prior to joining the Mountain West, Schwieger was also a Coach Academy Program Administrator for USA Shooting.

Schwieger is a 2017 graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration - Sport Management. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Drury University in 2022.

"I am thankful to Commissioner Colvin for this expanded opportunity and I am excited to continue to work with our amazing member institutions," Schwieger said. "Conference Carolinas is highly respected both regionally and nationally, and I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to continue to work with our member institutions and the conference staff to build upon what is already in place and make it an even better experience for all in the years to come."
