Back-to-Back Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Tournament Champions Bow Out of NCAA Division II Tournament

SALISBURY, N.C. – Back-to-back Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship winners UNC Pembroke outplayed top-seeded Catawba in the second half, but nevertheless saw their season end in a 58-48 loss in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
 
Catawba owned a 32-17 lead at intermission that would be too much to overcome for the Braves. Eighth-seeded UNC Pembroke outscored Catawba, 31-26, in the second half.

Zaria Clark and Kalaya Hall were the top scorers for UNC Pembroke in its loss with each scoring 12 points. Clark also had eight rebounds, one assist and a block, while Hall had six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
 
Janiya Downs and Nala Baker led a balanced Catawba attack with 13 points each.
 
UNC Pembroke closes out its historic season with a 23-8 overall record.
