Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for February of 2024

  • February 2024 Women’s Golf Freshman of the Month

    Lucie Levet, Mount Olive

    A freshman from Orléans, France, Lucie Levet of Mount Olive Levet competed in a pair of events with an 81.4 stroke average in February, which included leading the team at the highly competitive World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler. 

    On Feb. 5-6, she tied for 68th overall after posting a score of 25-over 245 (83-80-82) with four birdies and 26 pars. Later in the month, Levet finished second on the team and tied for 42nd on the individual leaderboard at the Battle at Hilton Head. She carded an eight-over 162 (82-80) with two birdies and 18 pars in the two-round event.

  • February 2024 Men’s Golf Freshman of the Month

    Connor Rose, Belmont Abbey

    A freshman from Greer, South Carolina, Connor Rose of Belmont Abbey shot a pair of 1-over par rounds in February. 

    Rose finished tied for 36th individually at the LMU Spring Kickoff and he collected a solid finish at the Bulldog Spring Invite.

  • February 2024 Acrobatics & Tumbling Freshman of the Month

    Anna Kate Barrier, Coker

    A freshman from McKinney, Texas, Anna Kate Barrier of Coker has been a standout athlete in her first month of competition, competing in four heats and the team event at each meet.

    Barrier competes in both the Trio tumbling heat and Six Element Tumbling heats in the Tumbling Event with scores highlighted by an 8.45/9.1 in Trio Tumbling and a 9.325/9.5 in the Six Element Tumbling heat at her most recent meet. She also competes in the Compulsory Tumbling heat and has helped the team to increase the score at every meet, most recently earning an 8.9/10. In Six Element Acro, she competes as a top and has been able to help the team to high scores, including a 9.25/9.85 against Belmont Abbey and Francis Marion. In the team event, Barrier is a main tumbler as well as a top in the Acro section, helping the team to score a 92.66/101.51 most recently. Her contributions throughout the meet have helped raise start values in the Trio Tumbling, Six Element Tumbling and Team Event, which has contributed to the team’s success so far this season.

  • February 2024 Baseball Freshman of the Month

    Nathan Borchardt, King

    A freshman catcher from Stanley, North Carolina, Nathan Borchardt of King hit a team-leading .339 during the first month of the season. 

    Borchardt started 16 games over the course of a month of February in which he had an OPS of .798. He also had a pair of doubles and five RBIs, while also collecting three stolen bases. Borchardt had five multi-hit games, which included two three-hit games, during the first month of the season.

  • February 2024 Softball Freshman of the Month

    Taylor Palfrey, Southern Wesleyan

    A freshman outfielder from Chapin, South Carolina, Taylor Palfrey of Southern Wesleyan put together a strong opening month of her career. 

    Palfrey finished the month of February hitting .365 with 22 runs scored and five RBIs. She had 19 hits over the course of the month. Palfrey also finished February with two home runs.

  • February 2024 Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Month

    Mikhail Pocknett, King

    A freshman forward from Wilmington, North Carolina, Mikhail Pocknett of King averaged 20 points and eight rebounds per game during the month of February. He also had 16 steals and seven blocks in February. 

    Pocknett also had three double-doubles in the month of February. He scored 20-plus points four times over the course of the month, including a 30-point performance at Belmont Abbey.

  • February 2024 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Month

    Kirsten Watt, Lees-McRae

    A freshman guard from Asheville, North Carolina, Kirsten Watt of Lees-McRae averaged 12.0 points per game during the month of February. 

    Overall during the month of February, Watt combined for 72 points in six games, recording double-digits in four of the six games. Watt registered a season-best 19 points on Feb. 17 against North Greenville. She made eight field goals in the contest.

  • February 2024 Men’s Bowling Freshman of the Month

    Ethan Bell, Belmont Abbey

    A freshman from Springboro, Ohio, Ethan Bell of Belmont Abbey finished 20th individually at the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic. 

    Bell closed out his efforts at the event with a 218.3 average. He posted a score above 200 in four of his six games at the event.

  • February 2024 Women’s Bowling Freshman of the Month

    Danielle Fendenheim, Emmanuel

    A freshman from Jacksonville, Florida, Danielle Fendenheim of Emmanuel bowled in two events in February, averaging 206 in 11 individual games. 

    Fendenheim had a high game of 248 in both events. She bowled a total of 243 frames with a 53 percent strike percentage.

  • February 2024 Men's Lacrosse Freshman of the Month

    Jacob Malia, Chowan

    Jacob Malia of Chowan was selected as the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Freshman of the Month for February after a strong start to his campaign. Malia posted 14 goals, eight assists and 22 points in the Hawks' first five contests of the season.

    The freshman on attack from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina is third on the team in all three categories, as well as being in the top four in Conference Carolinas in all three categories.

  • February 2024 Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Month

    Paige Murphy, Emmanuel

    A freshman on attack from Calgary, Alberta in Canada, Paige Murphy of Emmanuel finished the first month of her career with an astonishing 58 points.

    Murphy closed out the month of February with 42 goals and 16 assists. The current national leader in goals also won 19 draw controls and caused 11 turnovers. She picked up 12 ground balls in February.

  • February 2024 Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Month

    Kristoffer Dalbak, Mount Olive

    A freshman from Oslo, Norway, Kristoffer Dalbak of Mount Olive produced an impressive 4-1 record at No. 3 singles while going 3-2 alongside teammate Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira in the first position in doubles.

    He closed the month of February with four straight victories in singles play to help UMO to a 4-1 record. In doubles, Dalbak and de Oliveira posted a highlight victory over the No. 11 ranked duo of Hugo Regner and Matthew De Groot of Lander.

  • February 2024 Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Month

    Mackenzie McCarthy, Belmont Abbey

    A freshman from Morristown, New Jersey, Mackenzie McCarthy of Belmont Abbey won two singles matches and three doubles matches. 

    In singles play, she defeated Mars Hill’s Amalie Anderson 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 3 spot and defeated UVA Wise’s Antonella Campodonico 6-4, 6-1 in No. 2 singles at a neutral-site match at Lincoln Memorial.

    In doubles play, she won two matches at the No. 1 spot with Hanley Riner, including a 7-5 win over Emma Bentz and Luize Valtere of Erskine and a 6-2 victory over Andrea Gonzalez and Juliana Martinez of Augusta. She also was part of a doubles duo that defeated Maria Razzetta and Lilah Dean of Mars Hill in the No. 2 spot.

  • February 2024 Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Month

    Ryan Wilson-McCoy, Mount Olive

    A freshman from Bealeton, Virginia, Ryan Wilson-McCoy of Mount Olive finished an outstanding indoor season with a conference title in the triple jump before qualifying for the NCAA National Championships in the event.

    At the Conference Carolinas Championship, Wilson-McCoy secured the league crown with a jump of 14.77 meters (48-5.50 feet) in his first championship event. The following week, Wilson-McCoy shattered the school record with a distance of 15.14 meters (49-8.25) in the triple jump at the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational, which helped him secure a spot at nationals.

    Wilson-McCoy ranked 15th in the country in the event while sitting third overall in the Southeast Region this season.

  • February 2024 Women’s Track & Field Freshman of the Month

    Heavan Roberts, Mount Olive

    A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Heavan Roberts of Mount Olive posted a pair of top-10 times in Conference Carolinas in the 60-meter dash and the 200 meters during the indoor season.

    At the Conference Carolinas Championship, she delivered a season-best time of 25.27 seconds to finish runner-up in the 200m while finishing in sixth place in the final of the 60m with a time of 7.83 seconds.

  • February 2024 Men’s Volleyball Freshman of the Month

    Joseph Morris, Belmont Abbey

    A freshman setter from Bethesda, Maryland, Joseph Morris of Belmont Abbey averaged 9.95 assists and 1.68 digs per set over the course of the month of February. 

    Morris had two matches with over 40 assists in the month of February. His month-best came in posting 46 assists in a league win over North Greenville.

  • February 2024 Men’s Wrestling Freshman of the Month

    Ben Guilliam, Newberry

    A freshman from Summerville, South Carolina, Ben Guilliam of Newberry finished the month of February with three wins at 149 pounds. 

    Two of his wins in the month came via fall (4:40 vs Mount Olive's Lucas Cotto and King's Franky Medina in 2:10). Gulliam's third win came via major decision, 10-2, against Coker's Weston Bare.
