KJ Jones II of Emmanuel Tabbed D2 CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year; Three From Conference Carolinas Named Men’s Basketball All-Region
GREENVILLE, S.C. – KJ Jones II of Emmanuel was chosen as the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Southeast Region Player of the Year to highlight three Conference Carolinas student-athletes selected All-Southeast Region.
In addition to earning Player of the Year honors, Jones was also chosen first-team all-region. Chowan’s Daylan Askew and Converse’s Uzziah Dawkins were both tabbed as second-team choices.
Jones currently leads NCAA Division II in points per game (26.4), total points (818) and free throws made (292). The senior from Atlanta, Georgia is shooting 47.2 percent (233-of-494) from the field and he leads Conference Carolinas in free throw percentage (.888). He is also second in Conference Carolinas in assists (126) and he is third in the league in assists per game (4.1 per game).
Dawkins becomes the first Valkyrie to be named to the D2 CCA All-Region Team in program history. The Spartanburg, South Carolina native, started and played in all 29 games this season for the Valkyries and led the team with 556 points, averaging 19.2 points per game. Dawkins hauled in 139 rebounds, recorded 83 assists, had 50 steals and three blocked shots. The senior also shot .477 from the field, .364 from three-point range and .740 from the free throw line.
