Wilson-McCoy, Graves and Morton Pick Up Regional Awards; Conference Carolinas Heavily Featured in Indoor Track & Field All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The Conference Carolinas indoor track & field season was exceptional and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) took notice. 

In the all-region honors, six different teams in men's and women's indoor track & field had representatives. In the men's all-region honors, Belmont Abbey, Erskine, Mount Olive, North Greenville, Southern Wesleyan and UNC Pembroke all had student-athletes collect all-region accolades. In women's indoor track & field, Belmont Abbey, Converse, Lees-McRae, Mount Olive, North Greenville and UNC Pembroke all had student-athletes garner all-region plaudits.

Ryan Wilson-McCoy of Mount Olive was also chosen as the men's Field Athlete of the Year for the Southeast Region. McCoy, who hails from Bealeton, Virginia, bounded 15.14m (49-8¼) at the Fastrack Last Chance Meet to set conference and program records. Two weeks later, McCoy earned Second-Team All-America honors in the triple jump with a 14th place finish at the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Mount Olive head coach Earl Graves was honored as the men's Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Graves, in his fifth year as Director of Cross Country/Director of Track & Field and Head Coach at Mount Olive, led the Trojans to the team title at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships with 164 points, winning six events. He was named Conference Coach of the Year and coached Kamden Johnson to be named Conference Field Athlete of the Year.

In women's indoor track & field, Converse head coach Brandon Morton was named the Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Morton, in his ninth year as head coach at Converse, led the Valkyries to their first team title at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships, winning seven events while medaling in 10 events. Converse amassed 12 marks to rank among the top-10 in the region and broke nine school records this season.
