Jones and Dawkins garner NABC All-District honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. - KJ Jones II of Emmanuel and Uzziah Dawkins of Converse were named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District when they announced their awards on Tuesday. Jones garnered first team honors while Dawkins was named to the second team.

Jones has been named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year three times, including each of the last two years. He leads all of NCAA Division II with an average of 26.2 points per game this season. He is the only player in the country to score more than 800 points, pouring in 837 points this season.

The Atlanta, Georgia, native also led the country in free throw attempts and free throw makes while ranking 28th in the nation with an 88.0 free throw percentage. He also shot 46.9 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from three-point range. Jones added an average of 4.1 assists per game.

Dawkins becomes the first Valkyrie to be named to the NABC All-District second team in program history. The Spartanburg, South Carolina native, started and played in all 29 games this season for the Valkyries and led the team with 556 points, averaging 19.2 points per game. Dawkins hauled in 139 rebounds, recorded 83 assists, had 50 steals and three blocked shots. The senior also shot .477 from the field, .364 from three-point range and .740 from the free throw line.

Dawkins leaves Converse as the all-time leader in points (995), assists (200), scoring average (16.9), field goals made (357), three-point field goals made (90), free throws made (191), steals (79), total minutes (2005) and minutes averaged (34.2).

The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division II.
