Barton, Emmanuel and Young Harris Battle Way to Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton, Emmanuel and Young Harris all advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship.
Barton continued its magical run in the championship by picking up a 70-61 win over fourth-seeded Chowan. The 10
th-seeded Bulldogs were led by Lauren Walker’s 23 points and six rebounds. Tynasia Bunting led Chowan in its season-ending loss with 18 points.
Emmanuel narrowly escaped North Greenville, 69-64, in the second round matchup of the Southwest Division co-champions. The fifth-seeded Lions and the eighth-seeded Crusaders battled back and forth for the entire game with North Greenville leading 64-63 with 2:34 to play. Emmanuel scored the final six points in the game to advance to the quarterfinals. Sydney Wyatt led the Lions with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while North Greenville’s Amaijah Smith finished with 18 points and seven assists.
Young Harris advanced to its first Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship quarterfinals with a 71-59 win over seventh-seeded Converse. Young Harris had three in double figures with Crystal Corley leading the way with an impressive 23 points and 18 rebounds. Zariyah Washington was the top scorer for Converse with 13 points.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship will be held at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The men’s final will feature a 1 p.m. tipoff on March 10, while the women’s final is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
The Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Basketball Championships will also feature the Spirit Championships for the third consecutive year, which includes being held in the main arena of Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium for the second straight year. The Spirit Championships are scheduled for the morning of Saturday, March 9.
